PROVERBS 12 - Our Words
14 From the fruit of his lips a man is filled with good things
as surely as the work of his hands rewards him.
18 Reckless words pierce like a sword,
but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
22 The LORD detests lying lips,
but he delights in men who are truthful.
"Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue is also a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. …….no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison."
The above Proverbs tells us the Lord loves the truth and that the tongue of the wise brings healing to people because the fruit of his lips is filled with good things. Many people today use harsh words, evil words creating hatred, lies, deceit. Let us chose our words wisely to honor the Lord. Speak less.
12:1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge
But he who hates correction is stupid.
Remember "discipline" is to teach and to train. God disciplines those He loves; He takes the time to teach and to train them thru circumstances, thru others, and thru the Holy Spirit. "Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you." (ref: Deuteronomy 8:5)
