PROVERBS 10 - Promises of God
Proverbs 10 has many promises for the wise, for the righteous, for those who seek God's will.
8 The wise in heart accept commands,
17 He who heeds discipline shows the way to life,
29 The way of the LORD is a refuge for the righteous,
How often do we accept God's command in our lives? Do we ask God to help us make daily decisions? Or do we only call on Him when we are desperate?
I asked God if I should buy a certain automobile - a red BMW convertible. It was an ego thing, that I could justify. God gave me a clear answer - NO! His decision was clear. Then I had to make a choice - to follow God's command or to follow my own desires. This was my adulteress, my temptress, my temptation to disobey. I had to follow God's will. I had asked for His decision; now was the time to honor Him.
But at other times I have made unwise decisions, and God disciplined me. Now I am learning to ask His will, to listen to His decision, and to seek His refuge.
The Tongue
11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life,
19 When words are many, sin is not absent,
but he who holds his tongue is wise.
As Proverbs Men, we must watch what we say and how much we speak. Our mouth should be a fountain, not a waterfall. Our words should be spoken in love to encourage others; not in anger to tear others down. Difficult at times.
